Terms of Use,
stated plainly.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and Motu Dev LLC ("we," "us") covering your use of the Didentify Docs application (the "App"), including the optional Didentify Pro subscription. By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the App.

2. Free features and Didentify Pro

The App is free to download. The free tier includes:

• Working with one document at a time
• Automatic detection with the standard rules
• Preview of proposed redactions
• 3 exports per month

Didentify Pro is an optional subscription that adds batch processing, Compare (side by side), Verify, custom rules (search terms, presets, and substitution values), notes and watermarks, the redaction certificate, and unlimited exports. Features may change over time as the App is updated.

3. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

• Local prices may differ. Prices outside the United States are set in local currency by the App Store or Google Play and may include applicable taxes. The price shown in the App before you confirm a purchase is the price you pay.
• Free trial. The 7-day free trial applies to the annual plan only. When the trial ends, you'll be charged for the first year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
• Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account or Google account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends.
• Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro access until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, and refund requests are handled by them under their own refund policies. We cannot issue refunds directly.
• Unused trial time. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

4. App store terms

If you downloaded the App from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the App. If you downloaded the App from Google Play, Google Play's terms of service also apply. Where these Terms and the applicable store's terms conflict, the store's terms control to the extent of the conflict.

5. Automatic detection and your review

• Detection is an aid, not a guarantee. Automatic detection and on-device text recognition help you find sensitive information, but they can miss or misread content, especially in scans, handwriting, images, unusual layouts, or low-quality pages.
• You are responsible for review. You must review every page of every document, including batch output, before you share, publish, or rely on it.
• Compliance is your responsibility. Didentify Docs is a tool that can make redacting sensitive and regulated information easier, including health, financial, student, personal, and legal information. Using it does not by itself make you, your documents, or your workflow compliant with any law, regulation, industry standard, court rule, or contractual obligation, such as HIPAA, GLBA, PCI DSS, FERPA, GDPR, CCPA, or court redaction rules. You are solely responsible for deciding what must be redacted and for making sure your use of the App and any document you share meet the requirements that apply to you.
• We don't receive your documents. Because documents are processed on your device, we never receive, store, or have access to the information in them, including any regulated information.
• Certificates and Verify. The redaction certificate and Verify feature record and check details about an exported file. They do not prove that every piece of sensitive information was found or removed.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the App to violate any law or anyone else's rights, including privacy, confidentiality, and intellectual-property rights.
• Use the App to alter, forge, or misrepresent documents in order to deceive or defraud anyone.
• Circumvent subscription checks, export limits, or other access controls, or resell or redistribute the App or its features.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the App, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits it.

7. License and ownership

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and the applicable store's terms. The App, including its software, design, and the Didentify name and logo, is owned by Motu Dev LLC. Your documents are yours; we claim no rights in them and never receive them.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will detect or remove all sensitive information. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Motu Dev LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, or for any disclosure of information that the App failed to detect or that you chose not to redact, arising out of or related to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim related to the App is limited to the amount you paid for the App or Didentify Pro in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the App will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, unless mandatory consumer-protection law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere or under your local law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the App changes. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above. Price changes for existing subscriptions are communicated by Apple or Google under their own notice rules. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
